5 out of 5 stars Just what I needed.   March 29, 2010

My purpose for this was to broadcast my video game console on a online streaming website in HD.

Installing was simple, and the quality was great my audio never went out of sync however this is due to the fact that I use this card for live streaming and not recording. I tired using the recording feature just to test it out I get weird results when I try to for example the video will be extremely sped up while the audios going at regular speed. If you're thinking about getting this card to stream online then I would recommend doing so, if you're more interested in recording then I'd suggest looking into something else since this has some problems with that.

Also do yourself a favor and make sure that you're motherboard supports this card! If you go to Blackmagic's website theres a list of compatible motherboards.

+ Easy to use
+ No issues for Live Streaming
- Not good for recording

5 out of 5 stars To those with sync issues   May 7, 2010

If you are having A/V sync issues with your card, make sure to check the "enable varicam frame rate" checkbox in preferences if you use Premiere Pro to capture. This will only work in 720p though. when you select this it uses a different encoding process that will keep everything perfectly in sync. Also try record at 59.94 fps and not 60. 60 fps is rather inconsistent on this card and somtimes the frame rate can get a tad choppy.

5 out of 5 stars Easy to use and the only real way to get HDMI camera previews   October 18, 2009

I bought this to allow my newer HDMI based digital video cameras to preview in my digigal editing suite via the monitor. This way easy with the older firewire camera as it didnt need any special hardware, but the newer camera have dropped firewire for HDMI and therefore you need a card to allow you to take the inputs and outputs from the camera if you wish to "preview" the quality and setup of the camera within Adobe Premiere and other editing suites.

This works great and is easy to setup. Plug and go, with rhe latest drivers it works fine with Adobe CS4 on my 64bit machine.

The price has alos come down over recent months to make it much more affordable.

Nice product, well integrated with Adobe.

5 out of 5 stars Great product, some difficulties.   February 11, 2010

The product is great and comes with the break away adapter.

For $30 dollars less than buying it from BlackMagic it is a steal!

FYI to people getting this to cast your game system on the internet. For Xbox 360 you can use HDMI in and HDMI out on the card. For PS3 you have to use component in and can use HDMI out.

Best thing is that you don't need a splitter with this card saving you $40!

----

There are a lot of resources online about this product for trouble shooting. When I first installed the card I downloaded the latest drivers from the site (3.5.1) and my BlackMagic Control Panel options would all be grayed out. You must do a system restore to before you installed this and try the drivers from the CD which were 3.4 on mine. After that it worked. Since I have Windows 7 my restore removes all software and drivers which may not be the case with Vista (I can't remember).

Once that is done it just takes a lot of fiddling with settings and getting everything setup right.

For my PS3 I had to use Component in, but I had to connect it to the Tv first and get it all setup right at 720p then connect it to the card. From there I changed all the settings on the software to match the 720p setting then set the output to HDMI Out and that goes to my HDTV. Then when you are running the software you can see everything fine!

Card works as advertised. Not a lot of documentation included. Everything on the included CD disk. I installed it for one of our customers and I haven't heard anything which normally means they aren't using it or it's working o.k.
